Rio partido Dominican Republic

Rio Partido is a magical and incredible place well hidden in the province of Hermanas Mirabal in the north of the Dominican Republic. This is one of the icons of the city of Santo Domingo. Since 1995 it has been used for various purposes. The first thing that was done was to transform it into a gigantic Christmas tree.  Later it would serve as a canvas for important artists to depict works related to historical characters such as the Mirabal Sisters.  As an artistic mural it has remained to this day, a decision applauded by many.  Thiss obelisk was built to satisfy the megalomania of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, painted by Amaya Salazar, with the image of "The Butterflies" in honor of the sacrificed Mirabal Sisters. Design and construction It was designed in 1936 by Alfredo Gonzalez Sanchez and built by engineer Rafael Garcia Bonnell y Washington and is 40 meters high.
